JV Campaign - Chef Noof
Chef Noof Al Marri runs the Desert Rose Café at the National Museum of Qatar. In late 2025, QC+, the hospitality group inside the Qatar Museums ecosystem, partnered with her to take Qatari cuisine to a wider stage. grain introduced her to that audience, then followed her through the season: a film, a documentary, a Ramadan series, a tribute dinner, a pop-up in Paris and a photographic study of local producers.

Welcome to the Family
Her introduction borrows the best-known flashback in food cinema. Chefs test a contemporary majboos, a critic tastes it, and the film drops into a memory of farms, spice markets and a family table. We kept the original’s rhythm and moved its geography to Qatar, so the dish does what it does in the film: it takes someone home. The last card reads Welcome to the Family.
Her Table, Seen Whole
The second introduction is a documentary assembled from her own record: Akilna, the Qatar Museums series on Qatari cuisine, and the events after it, including the National Museum’s 50th anniversary, where she cooked with Chef Jeremy Cheminade. The edit follows one idea, that a chef is an author. Her recipes carry a point of view, and the film lets the dishes show it.
Ramadan, Spice by Spice
For Ramadan we filmed the dishes she returns to each year and the spices behind them. The camera stays close and slow on hands, powder and grain, because to a cook the spice shelf is a palette.
An Homage in Courses
Chefs from IDAM by Alain Ducasse and QC+ cooked a tribute to I. M. Pei, architect of the Museum of Islamic Art. Pei built the museum from a square, an octagon and a circle, and the courses answered in the same geometry. We filmed them as architecture: edges, volume, and light moving across a surface. [Add the date and venue.]
Made Here
Countryside: A Place to Live, Not to Leave, the Qatar Museums and AMO exhibition, asks what rural life can offer the future. For QC+ we designed a piece and photographed a table around it, showing what local producers and their ingredients become on a plate. The ingredients were lit like still life, each one given its own light.
